Today is National Quilting Day! If you love to sew, you probably love quilting. It is the magic of turning scraps of fabric into glorious riots of color and story. Every quilt tells a story–either in repeated blocks of flying geese or tumbling blocks or in appliqued movements of butterflies and flowers or in stress and distress of pattern, shape, size, texture as imagined by the quilter. The stitches that then overlay the fabric patterns not only hold the top and bottom and stuffing together, but add layers of design and meaning. Quilting has a lot in common with writing. It is a day to celebrate creativity of all storytelling techniques! #NationalQuiltingDay
