William Inge wrote the well-known plays, Come Back, Little Sheba; Picnic; and Bus Stop, among others. He won an Oscar for the Best Screen-Play with Splendor in the Grass. His legacy continues in his home-state of Kansas, at the Independence, Kansas William Inge Center for the Arts, which hosts an annual Theatre Festival.
