Lois Lowry is a beloved children’s author and also a favorite on the challenged books list! She was born in Hawaii before it was a state! Her books include NUMBER THE STARS, THE GIVER, and THE GOONEY BIRD series. She’s won the Newbery Medal twice and many other book awards.
