Flannery O’Connor is known for her short stories and novels. She’s considered a Southern writer, regional in tone and temperament. Like all great writers, she captures universal truths in small bits and pieces. Once again, though, it’s important not to canonize any writer. All have failings and faults—and Ms. O’Connor had a bent toward racism.
