Vaclav Havel. Born 10/5/1936. Died 12/18/2011. Havel was a Czech author, poet, playwright, and dissident statesmen who eventually led the new Czech republic. He specialized in absurdist theatre to amplify the faults of Communism as applied in his home country. He was awarded numerous prized, including the Gandhi Peace Price, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, and the Order of Canada. His plays include The Garden Party and The Memorandum.
