Stanislaw Lem was born in Ukraine of Polish-Jewish heritage. His most famous novel is science fiction: SOLARIS. I read it decades ago and loved it. I also read his MEMOIRS FOUND IN A BATHTUB. He is lauded for his wit, satire, and philosophical thinking, all included in his stories and essays. He died in 2006.
