Toni Morrison is the iconic author of the late 20th century. Her novel, Beloved, published in 1987, won the Pulitzer Prize in Literature. During Black History Month, and all year long, we celebrate the contributions of authors to our lives. Toni Morrison not only gave us Beloved, a novel I was shocked to learn is categorized in the horror genre! She also gave us The Bluest Eye, Tar Baby, Sula, and Jazz. Many of her novels explore and honor our African ancestors who were enslaved in America. She’s won many major awards and was honored with the Presidential Medal of Freedom. If you haven’t read her books, now is the time to do so!
